What Is Important When Using Micro Switches?

A micro switch is an electrical switch that operates with very little physical force. The change of the micro light switch occurs at a specific position, and this changed position is called an actuator. The actuator causes the electrical contact to produce a larger movement with a small movement, which usually occurs during high-speed movement. Generally, the service life of a micro push switch is 1 to 10 million times.

Micro limit switches are usually only components of electrical appliances and are mainly used for detection. For example, door micro switch can be used to detect paper jams in the copier, and can also be used to detect the presence of media or products. In addition, the micro switch can be used as a limit switch to control the machine tool or as a door switch.

The Details that Need to Be Paid Attention to When Using the Micro Switch

The right waterproof micro switch needs to be matched with the correct terminal and the correct actuator. The terminals have straight PCB pins, slanted PCB pins, solder holes, quick connections and cables. There are also many types of solenoid valves, including piston pins, continuous rods, roller rods, analog rollers, and spring rods.

When using a mini micro switch, you need to pay attention to the size and type of load. The current surge current generated by different loads is different. For example, a relay has five times the rated surge current, a motor is ten times the rated surge current and an incandescent lamp is fifteen times, and a solenoid can even reach 20 times. In addition, if you need to switch a small load, it is not recommended to use a high-current micro switch.

If you need to use a micro momentary switch in a harsh environment, you need to choose a micro switch with a high IP rating, which is recommended to be higher than IP67.

In order to prolong the service life of the contacts, you can choose a contact protection circuit. This can reduce noise and reduce the generation of cemented carbide or nitric acid caused by the arc. In addition, the use of a contact protection circuit can delay the response time of the load. The common contact protection circuit is RC circuit. In a 24-48 volt power supply system, the RC circuit is connected in parallel with the load to protect the contacts. But when the power supply voltage is 100-200 volts, the RC circuit and the contacts in parallel can play a protective role. When switching AC power, the impedance of the load must be less than the impedance of R and C. In addition, the varistor can also protect the contacts, and its use is similar to the RC circuit. The diode can convert the energy stored in the coil into current. By connecting in parallel with the load, the diode can also protect the precision micro switch. If you are worried that the reset delay caused by the diode is too long, you can choose a Zener diode.
