Limit switches are widely used in life, so it is common for limit switches to malfunction. If you do not want to seek professional help, you can choose to replace it yourself. In this article, we will use the micro limit switch of the furnace as an example to explain how to replace the limit switch.
In this cold winter, a warm stove can make life happier. A key part of the stove that keeps the home warm is the fan limit control switch. This component can control the furnace and send a signal to the blower assembly to control its startup and shutdown, so as to blow warm air into your ducts and the entire home, and control the temperature of the indoor environment.
The position of the limit flame rollout switch for different furnaces is slightly different, but in general, you need to remove the furnace cover first. Generally speaking, the fan and limit control switch is located on the mounting plate and has a temperature sensor that extends to the furnace chamber. The furnace chamber is an air chamber filled with air from the blower fan. One of the two wires on the mounting plate is connected to the blower and the other is connected to the gas valve.
Generally, kilns are equipped with a temperature limit switch sensor. When your furnace thermostat senses that your room temperature is too low, the sensor will send a signal to activate the burner to ignite and start heating the air in the plenum. When the temperature in the plenum is high enough, the fan limit sensor switch will give a signal to the blower assembly to blow the heated air through the heat exchanger so that the warm air is circulated to each room through the duct system. When the thermostat recognizes that your room temperature is high enough, it will send a signal to turn off the furnace. But at this time the blast machine keeps running until the temperature in the furnace is sufficiently low. The fan high temperature limit switch can also close the gas valve to prevent fire when the kiln works abnormally or is damaged.
1. Deactivate the Stove
The most important thing is to power off the furnace to prevent safety accidents during the replacement of waterproof limit switch.
2. Remove the Old Switch and Configure the New Switch
After turning off the power, extinguish the fire in the furnace, then open the furnace door and remove the old limit switch. Then configure the new thermal limit switch according to the model of your furnace, imitate the wiring of the old switch, and put the new limit switch, which usually only involves two screws, wires and a spool. Then follow the instructions to make the settings of the new and old limit switches the same, or you can adjust them as needed.
3. Operation Test
After configuring the new limit switch, you need to try it out. First turn on the kiln and adjust the thermostat to start heating, and then verify that enough warm air is being blown from the vents. During the test, you need to pay attention to whether there is any abnormality to confirm whether the replacement is successful.
