How to Choose a Radio Remote Control for Bridge Cranes?

The bridge crane is a kind of lifting equipment that is horizontally framed over the workshop, warehouse and material yard for lifting and transporting materials. Its two ends are located on tall concrete columns or metal supports, so its shape resembles a bridge. The frame of the bridge crane runs longitudinally along the tracks laid on the elevated bridges on both sides, which can make full use of the space under the bridge frame to lift materials without being hindered by ground equipment. It is the most widely used and the largest number of cranes. It is understood that bridge cranes include single girder bridge cranes, single girder bridge cranes, light double girder cranes and so on. Different cranes choose different control methods.

Remote control operation has the characteristics of improving working conditions and convenient operation. Especially in some stone slab production enterprises, wireless remote control operation is widely adopted, which avoids the personal accident of the operator that may be caused by the crane derailing or the heavy object falling. However, when wireless remote control is used, it is different from the traditional cable hand controller in terms of safe use.

Safety Requirements for Remote Control of Bridge Cranes

1. The crane using wireless remote control should have various protection functions of the original crane, such as zero position, over-current, stroke, etc. When the remote control adopts a non-auto-reset joystick, it is required that all joysticks are in the zero position before the operation can issue a control command. When the master controller and contactor are controlled, the master controller must be in the zero position before the remote control can connect to the crane's main power supply network. When the crane is accidentally powered off, the remote control should stop working. When the power supply is restored, the remote control must pass the correct starting procedure to connect to the main power circuit of the crane. When the power supply voltage of the remote control is insufficient, it should be able to issue a stop command through the white control function.

2. The crane using wireless remote control should be equipped with a total contactor or an air circuit breaker that trips under voltage to cut off the crane's total power supply. The power supply of all institutions must be led out from the outlet end of the main power contactor. The action of the main power contactor or the circuit breaker with the loss-of-voltage trip line shall be able to cut off the main power supply of all institutions, and the operation of all institutions shall be stopped.

3. For cranes with wireless remote control, there should be an obvious remote control indicator on the crane, indicating that the crane is operated by a remote control.

4. When a crane is operated by both remote control and cab, interlocking should be realized between the two. A transfer switch must be installed at the entrance of the driver's cab.

5. Relays and contactors running forward and reverse should have electrical interlocks. If necessary, the contactor can be equipped with a mechanical interlock, and the forward and reverse running code of the motion mechanism in the receiving processor should have a software interlock.

6. The radio remote control system should have the ability to resist interference from the same frequency. Misoperation is not allowed when it is interfered by the same frequency. The control receiving end is directly connected to the strong current system, and various interferences will be very much, so its reliability and anti-interference are very important.

7. The housing of the receiver and the box of the intermediate relay should be reliably connected with the steel structure of the crane.

8. The emergency stop function of the wireless remote control device is one of the safety requirements. The emergency stop function includes active emergency stop and passive emergency stop.

The wireless remote control crane can meet a variety of different production environments. Compared with the manual operation of the cable, it can reduce labor, save time, improve production efficiency, and avoid personnel injury and equipment loss caused by mis-operation.
